History

The Raleigh-Durham Chapter of the NBMBAA is an organization which was chartered in 1989 as one of the now 39 chapters of the National Black MBA Association Inc., headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

It is a nonprofit organization which continually strives for educational and economic growth for the African-American community while promoting personal and professional development for its members.

The chapter is composed of minority MBAs, MPAs, JDs, business professionals, business students and entrepreneurs in both the private and public sectors throughout the country. Our members work in a variety of business including, advertising and marketing, management, manufacturing, high-tech and financial services, just to name a few.

Current Initiatives
The Chapter has committed itself to building a relationship with corporations, institutions, and the community through monthly speaker programs, seminars, and participation in Community Improvement Programs. Through expanding partnerships and outreach programs, the organization has experienced rapid growth in the Triangle and outlying areas.

Additionally, it has awarded academic scholarships to students pursuing undergraduate and graduate business degrees since 1989.
