Committees

The organization depends on the talents of the members to accomplish our goals. We need each and every one of you to participate to be able to make a difference in the community. Therefore, we invite you to join a Committee Today!




    COMMITTEES ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


CORPORATE RELATIONS COMMITTEE
Chair: Dionne Brown (Dionne@rdumba.org)

This committee shall:
- Be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with local corporations and in Triangle Area.
- Develop and maintain Chapter’s Corporate Development plan
- Solicit monetary funding, underwriting, and in-kind services to support Chapter activities
- Recruit corporate partners to support National Conference.
- Shall spearhead the Annual Corporate Reception
- Maintain an updated database of Key contact people for current and potential Corporate Partners. Submit to Director of Technology and Secretary to include on mailing list.


ENDOWMENT FUND COMMITTEE
Chair: TBD

This committee shall:
- Raise $20,000 in 2007
- Create an Endowment Fund Campaign
- Create events whereby profits will go towards Endowment Fund
- Send letter to Chapter members and other sources soliciting donations
- Re-engage senior and past members to solicit funds
- Use the Grant Foundation libraries to research possible foundations that give to Endowment Funds
- Work with Corporate Development Committee to Solicit Funds from Chapter’s corporate partners


LEADERS OF TOMORROW COMMITTEE
Chair: Chioma Phillips (Chioma@rdumba.org)

This committee shall:
- Provide mentors and resources to marginally academic performing high school students who have leadership potential.
- Expose and motivate students to make good choices about college, their career and their future.
- Plan year long programming and recognition.


MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Chairs: Alvin Carr (Alvin@rdumba.org)

This committee shall:
- Recruit and retain members to the Chapter.
- Work with Marketing to prepare and distribute membership information packages.
- Receive, review, copy and submit applications to the National Office.
- Promote the membership of the National Black MBA Association, Inc.
- Develop strategies to recruit new members.
- Provide a budget for membership activities and year-end recommendations.
- Track attendance at monthly meetings and special events.
- Maintain the most current membership roster and provide changes to the Director of Technology
- Conduct membership orientations
- Develop membership drives to recruit new members.
- Develop and maintain relationships with area colleges
- Sponsor activities that address the needs of the student members


PROGRAM COMMITTEE
Chair: Sandra Thompson Chambers (sandra@rdumba.org)

This committee shall:
- Be responsible for planning and carrying out the programs designed to increase the intellectual and economic wealth of the membership and the community.
- Arrange the date, time, place and all such details for programs and notify secretary.
- Plan, develop and present the program for the monthly meetings.
- Arrange the date, time, and location for the monthly meetings and notify secretary.
- Work with Web committee to ensure meetings and programs are updated on calendar.
- Update and distribute scholarship applications.
- Provide a budget for programs and make year – end recommendations.


NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE
Chair: Isaac Robinson (isaac@rdumba.org)

This committee shall:
- Work with various committee chairs to produce and distribute professional looking newsletter at least quarterly


SOCIAL COMMITTEE
Chair: Open

This Committee shall:
- Provide a means for members to socialize and network within the organization and community.
- Plan at least one members and family social event
- Work closely with all committees to determine the types of social activities desired by the members.
- Provide an annual budget for social activities.
- Plan and organize social events.
- Establish and maintain relations with other black professional organizations in the community.
- Consult and advise other committees on forecasting their events and the limitations of the calendar.


WEB COMMITTEE
Chair: Stephanie Lee (stephanie@rdumba.org)

This committee shall:
- Update the mailing and email list monthly.
- Update site weekly.
- Work with program committee to update calendar.
- Recommend any changes, edits, etc to the site in order to remain professional and user friendly.
- Work with other committees to update information on site.


MARKETING
Chair: Mike Byrd (Mike@rdumba.org)

This committee shall:
- Work with various committee chairs to produce professional looking marketing materials for their respective committee and is consistent with the branding of the Chapter
- Develop strategies to successfully market and advertise events andprograms.
- Establish policies and procedures to disseminate information to the public and the press in an effective and timely manner.
- Be informed of standing committees project timeliness to ensure the appropriate level of marketing and advertising of an event, program, or workshop.
- Cultivate and maintain public relations with our established corporate base and the media.
- Provide information for all press releases.
- Provide a budget for publicity activities and make year-end recommendations.
- Seek opportunities to gain positive visibility for the Chapter.


FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE
Chair: LaShaunda Ford (LaShaunda@rdumba.org)

This committee shall:
- Work with committee chairs to determine the committee’s financial needs.
- Use the Grant Foundation libraries to research possible foundations that will fund chapter programs.
- Write grant proposal and submit to Foundations
